One of the joys of gardening for me is cutting flowers and arranging them. I have a large vase collection to arrange a variety of bouquets. Some of my favorite flowers to display are hydrangeas and zinnias.
For inspiration, I visit the Biltmore Estate to enjoy the floral arrangements there. These are the best arrangements I have ever seen—anywhere. There are many, many arrangements throughout the grand house. The staff always uses only fresh flowers, never artificial.
This spring I enjoyed the House Party fashion exhibit, but for me, the floral arrangements upstaged the exquisite clothes of the Gilded Age. Both the fashions and flowers were amazing. Every room of the house on the tour had stunning bouquets of flowers.
The highlight of the tour was the enormous banquet hall with arrangements of roses all over the long dining table. The Breakfast Room, which is smaller, had many floral arrangements too. I am posting a photo of that room with this article.
In the basement of the Biltmore House is a large room devoted solely to arranging bouquets of flowers. There is a table to work on and many shelves of handsome vases of all different colors and shapes. It is a dream room for me!
